Lighting is designing emotions

HMB is a lighting design studio founded by French lighting designer Hugo, specializing in turning artistic ideas into unforgettable visual experiences. His career began at the renowned Théâtre du Soleil in Paris, where he served as Head Electrician and Lighting Assistant under the direction of Ariane Mnouchkine.

After four years with the company, Hugo moved to Brazil, where he expanded his work across major theater and circus productions, as well as large-scale events. Highlights include Gritos by the Dos à Deux company—winner of the APTR, Cesgranrio, and Questão de Crítica awards (2016)—and international projects such as Mad Apple and Auana for Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas.

With experience spanning Broadway productions, The Illusionists’ world tours, Rio de Janeiro Carnival with the Portela samba school, and events like Rock in Rio and the 2016 Olympics, HMB has established itself as a leading reference in stage lighting—both technical and artistic.

More than lighting a scene, HMB translates emotion, creates atmosphere, and connects audiences to the essence of each performance—bringing together art, technical mastery, and sensitivity to transform every project into an experience of light and feeling.
